What’s good about this Elixir?

Spinach Leaves – Spinach contains a good source of iron (non-haem), vitamin C, folate, important B vitamins and heart-healthy minerals including magnesium, potassium and calcium, helping to regulate the amount of fluid your body requires.

Chia Seeds – Chia seeds contain good amounts of fibre, protein, omega 3 fats, calcium, magnesium, manganese and phosphorus. Chia seeds are gluten free, promote heart health and aid a healthy digestive system.

Banana – Bananas are one of nature’s best sources of potassium. Munching on a banana can decrease your risk of heart disease and stroke and lower blood pressure. One of the ways that bananas keep blood pressure down is by helping to prevent plague from sticking to artery walls. Bananas are a very good source of electrolytes which you can lose when you become dehydrated. Electrolytes are minerals that turn into electrically charged particles in the body, helping to control almost everything that happens inside, from muscle contractions and fluid balance to the beating of the heart. For this reason, bananas can also offer a speedy recovery from diarrhoea.

Mango – Mangoes are brimming with goodness! They’re low GI, low in fat, and are a great source of calcium and vitamins essential for good health. One mango provides you with up to x3 your recommended daily intake of Vitamin A and C. Vitamin C, an antioxidant important in protecting the body from infection, is required in the formation of collagen, a protein that gives structure to bones, cartilage, muscle and blood vessels. Mangoes provide more beta-carotene than any other fruit and are a rich source of fibre and potassium. Beta-carotene is a powerful anti-oxidant that can help protect the body against disease and also fight the signs of ageing by assisting with the growth and repair of cells, tissues and skin.

Fresh Mint – Mint has one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any food.  Mint contains menthol, which is a natural decongestant. Mint contains small amounts of potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C and vitamin A and is a great palate cleanser.
